Wal-Mart Commercial

Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years, 5 months ago

I'm not sure exactly what this assignment is supposed to be, because it seems like everyone did different stuff, if anything. I think we're supposed to explore a green advertisement, as well as an ad for a big name. This ad covers both. First off, the commercial has a woman talking about the benefits of buying the efficient light bulb (from wal-mart of course). She's calm, sensible, and seems trustworthy. So not only do we like the message, but we also like the lady, so therefore we associate environmental friendliness, a kind person, and low prices with their brand. Not only that, I noticed the little symbol at tho bottom of the screen. All of Wal-marts stores and commercials now have that symbol, which appears to be replacing the yellow happy face. It's doesn't have any apparent meaning, but it resembles a beaming sun, which gives "happy vibes". So eventually, between "feel good" commercials and low prices, we'll identify the new symbol for wal-mart with a bunch of good subconscious thoughts. They're pretty much programming us to like Wal-Mart.
