McCloud

In Ch. 1 of Understanding Comics, McCloud starts defining comics. He discusses that one needs to separate form from content to first understand what comics is. "Content" is up to the creators and is always different because we have different tastes. To understand comics McCloud tells us to separate the words from the images. Words are not needed to define comics. When you put images into a sequence, the art of the image is transformed into something more: the art of comics.
