The first example that popped into my head was Kanye’s “Stronger” and his use of a sample from Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” as the hook to his song. Obviously, the main difference between the two songs is that Daft Punk’s original version is electronic music-influenced, whereas Kanye’s is more hip-hop driven. Essentially, what Kanye did was he took the words from Daft Punk’s track and combined them in a coherent way to create a musical backdrop, over which he laid his rhymes. Also, he changed the rhythm of the original version, making it much more bass-driven to fit within the mold of hip-hop beats.
