Earth Democracy Intro-Christian

Page history last edited by PBworks 1 yr ago

Within the first pages of the intro to Earth Democracy, Vandana Shiva clearly expresses what is wrong with the world we live in today. Basically, her point is the world is to be shared by all walks of life, human, animal, and plant. "Humans belong to the world". She discusses the roles of the rich verses the poor and how one is too privileged and power hungry, while the other is just plain hungry and will do anything to survive. The poor will self destruct in order to scrape a living off of this planet, even if it involves being inhuman. I think Vandana Shiva isn't promoting earth democracy, but promoting earth communism. She speaks of the human potential and how we can strive to share this earth without the presence of violence and self destruction. How can this be? When life was simple, HUMANS HAVE ALWAYS HAD A NEED FOR WAR. Humans, educated or not, desire power in one form or another and the scales of humanity are always teetering. Sure you may have societies where true democracy takes place, but these people choose to be there and cooperate with the system. Auroville, India is a great example of human corruption in a so called utopian society. Auroville India is a utopian society inhabited primarily by Europeans. It has been documented that the children from surrounding villages have been taken advantage of and molested for generations. The children are poor and manipulated into doing sexual favors for the few Aurovillians for money. Vandana Shiva has a great concept and I applaud her writings, but I don't think what she tries to promote is feasible.
