Rationale: I wrote this paper with intention of adequately defining sustainable communities, as well as to elaborate on the past, present and future of them

Invention: I stewed on a few ideas for a couple days. I like the concept of communities, and when I realized that the idea of sustainable communities was as developed as it is, it was an easy choice.

Compositional Technique: I did a little internet surfing, skimmed through my environmental science text book, and then wrote a rough draft. I took peer-recommendations and chose ideas to elaborate on. Then, by adding content, I went from 1,000 words to well over 2,000. As far as specific ideas: I started with how we moved toward unsustainable practices, then the causes and effects of them (urban sprawl, urban blight, etc.). Then I transitioned into the modern concept of sustainability, in relation to communities and the world. I described efforts being made toward sustainable communities, then I finished with the conclusions I made about them, and how they tie into the bigger picture.

Evaluation Criteria: I’m fairly confident of my use of grammar and the progression of my ideas. For me, I want to be evaluated based on how my words impacted the reader. If the reader took away something worth reflecting upon, I did my job.
